Some background..

Former BBC & ITV Weatherman, Richard Edgar and his wife Dee bring over 65 years of successful and diverse business skills and experience. Richard’s background, already quite widely publicised, started with a degree in Production Engineering at Leeds, followed by 3 years overseas in Turkey and Iran in various engineering management roles.

During the Iranian revolution Richard lost everything and returned to the UK to joining the Royal Navy as Officer Aircrew.8 years in the Senior service saw Richard serving with Prince Andrew, travelling to The Falklands twice, qualifying as a helicopter controller, ships watch keeping officer and meteorologist, not to mention sailing & windsurfing instructor and ski leader.

Whilst travelling the world he also briefly met his future wife Dee in Bermuda who, a year later upon meeting in England, he married after 10 days, all changed on leaving the Navy and becoming a father 3 months later.

Civvy life started as an office equipment salesman in Gloucestershire before happily joining “up market” Estate Agents Bruton Knowles. Life in

Cheltenham was good and the property business very much appealed. However a tongue in cheek job application to Thames TV for a TV weatherman’s job changed everything, as Richard was offered the post to replace Jack Scott as Thames TV’s last weatherman.

ITV National Weather invited Richard to join the Team as presenter, producer and after 2 successful years, The BBC called!  8 years at the BBC saw Richard as one of the main front men on Breakfast News, Frost on Sunday not to mention the pleasure of producing and presenting many specials for shows like Blue Peter, Wogans Web, Children in Need as well as lots of special outside broadcasts for news and weather strands. Richard helped develop and launch weather and lifestyle elements for BBC World and NEWS 24.

Dee enjoyed 12 years in Advertising & Marketing in the 70’s and 80’s working on blue chip accounts like Russell & Bromley, Simpson’s of Piccadilly and Jaeger, She then swopped the bright lights and hectic pace of London for the more tranquil and soothing shores of Bermuda where she lived and worked for four years.

During this time her assignments included a period working for the Mayor of Hamilton, a temporary assignment with the Bermuda Governments’ Finance Minister eventually settling down to her role as Personal Assistant to the Head of the Bermuda Broadcasting Company.  She also took on many acting and modelling assignments.  One of her acting jobs involved a pilot series shot in

Bermuda starring Robert Wagner, Jill St John and Patrick McNee. Her involvement in this led her to seek her fame and fortune as an actress in Los Angeles but on route she met Richard and her destiny was sealed.

Upon her return to England in 1985 she immediately launched herself into married life and motherhood, raising two children, moving 13 times and supporting Richard through several job changes.  When their two children, Sam and Jessica, reached adulthood, she decided to return to the much less demanding world of business! And so Edgars Property Company was born.

Richard and Dee have gathered much of their expertise from personal experience in the property market.  Together they have moved home thirteen times. Of these moves, seven involved selling, buying and complete renovation.
