The Latest House Price Index |

The Department of Communities and Local Government has published its latest house price index, to cover June 2010, which show that house prices rose by 9.9% from May.
The key points from the release are:
- UK house prices were 9.9 per cent higher than in June 2009 and were unchanged from May 2010 (seasonally adjusted). - The mix-adjusted average house price in the UK stood at £210,775 in June (not seasonally adjusted). - UK house prices rose by 0.8 per cent in the quarter to June 2010 compared to an increase of 2.8 per cent in the March quarter (seasonally adjusted). - Average prices increased in England (10.5 per cent), Scotland (3.7 per cent) and Wales (13.5 per cent) but fell in Northern Ireland (-7.7 per cent). - Average prices paid by first time buyers increased by 10.3 per cent over the year to June whilst prices paid by former owner occupiers increased by 9.8 per cent. - Average prices paid for new properties were 9.0 per cent higher than a year ago and prices paid for pre-owned dwellings were 10.0 per cent higher.
